COOP ANTICS

We built a new roost for all of the new chickens... We figured that giving 39 chickens about 30 feet of roost to rest on would mean they wouldn't be crowded... They had other plans, and bunched up together!

Also, Broody was showing one of the other Buffs the view from the ceiling...

OUTSIDE FUN!

Here's Juliet outside playing after Church. She must have run for 15 minutes straight!!!

Needless to say, she was one tired girl!

Ladybug, ladybug

After the 15 minutes of Moonsand and then playing with the chicks, we found a ladybug to play with. Here's Juliet catching her new best friend.

Moon Sand

We were hoping to spend some time down at the river today.....until I fell yesterday and slightly twisted my ankle. Makes it kind of hard to walk down the 100 steps to the river, let alone getting back up.

So instead we're staying close to home. I got this idea from Pinterest to make Moonsand (flour and baby oil) and decided to try it out. Pretty cool and kept her occupied for about 15 minutes ;).

And then there were 7

As of this morning we have hatched out 7 baby chicks (we also lost a few). We think a few more might come out of the incubator in the next few days but are unsure right now so we'll just wait and see.

Juliet is happy to have more chicks to play with :)

Big Girl Bed

Juliet was so excited to get her "Big Girl" bed....until she got it. She's still missing her toddler bed so I've been working on her room trying to make it a little more fun for her.

We moved some stuff around making her kitchen area a little better as giving her a little reading nook.

She likes it, she just likes it and wants her little bed back. Sigh. We'll keep trying :)

Wallis Hatchery

We're on our third batch of eggs and we finally got the temperature right. After waiting a d waiting, yesterday Allen started hearing some faint cheeping.

This morning there were cracks in the eggs and LOTS of cheeping. We're about to have a lot more chickens around here (we JUST moved our other growing chicks into the coop).

We'll post pictures of the chicks as soon as we can.

Yummy!

Nothing like a homemade fruit & yogurt ice-pop to get you moving in the morning.

Helping

Helping Mommy & Daddy with outside chores.

Happy Sunday!

Juliet is feeling much better this week. She got all dressed up in the dress her Papa sent her and let me take some pictures. They looked posed but she actually told me I could only take pictures if she didn't have to look at me and could hold onto her little baby bible. Awww, ok.

Bath-time

The kittens got a bath today. Fuuuun.

Crazy animals!

Allen giving Broody a treat and hanging with the sheep. They don't like me that much (as you can see as C3PO sticks her tongue out at me and kisses Allen) so I don't get too many good pictures of them but they were being pretty friendly here.

Coop Happenings

Yesterday we decided it was time to start transitioning the chicks into the coop. We started with the oldest ones and will put two or so new ones in the closed off area each day. They will spend a few days up to a week locked inside the coop so they get comfortable and know where home and safety is.

While getting them settled, all the animals came around wanting to meet their new neighbors. Our one remaining adult chicken "Broody" Huxtable was especially curious. Hopefully she will help them get settled :).
