Feeling Better

After fighting a low fever for the last 4 days, Juliet's appetite is finally returning.
This morning I asked if she wanted some cinnamon toast. She responded with a loud, "YES, with cereal on TOP!" I figured why not, I'm just happy that she's eating.

Later in the day we decided to set up Juliet's new "big girl" bed. Allen spent all afternoon breaking apart her crib/toddler bed and disassembling then reassembling the twin bed we moved in for her. This has been a long time coming and she has worked really had to earn her big girl bed.

Unfortunately, she is currently home-sick for her old bed (bed-sick?). She's always been very fond of her crib, that was her own little space. Even after we converted it to the toddler bed she would ask about her old bed. She was safe and comfortable and now the bed is big and a bit scary. I feel bad for her being so sad about something she wanted so bad.

So tomorrow I'm off to purchase a few things that will make her transition a little easier. Disney Princess bed sheets (I would have liked Hello Kitty buuuuuut this is about her....) and maybe some fancy princess pajamas.

If that doesn't work, well, lets not go there yet. Wish is luck!

Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday Allen took care of a sick Juliet so I could go into town to our little movie theater and watch the new Great Gatsby :)

Pizza Bread

I love it when a Pinterest recipe works. Pull apart stuffed pizza bread. Yuuuum!

Barn Cats!

With spring also comes animals, many of them unwanted like snakes and mice. The advice we've gotten and put off for so long are barn cats. So today on the way home I stopped by the local shelter and rescued two feisty kittens.

Yes they are cute, and yes they will get some cuddles to make sure they are people friendly. But in a few weeks they will be moved from the basement to the garage which will become their new home and where they will start their work.

Names: Boba & Fett
Yup, Star Wars names all around!

All the animals

Juliet came out with me last night to help feed the sheep and goats. We played for a bit, fed them some cookies, picked some flowers then headed in.

In a few weeks the chicks will be big enough to let out. Then the animal total will be: 4 goats, 2 sheep, 20+ chickens, two dogs, and 1 cat. A friend just asked me if we wanted some miniature donkeys (they have those?). They are cute but I think we're good for now. The only thing I think we may add are a few barn cats to help keep the snake and mice population down.
