Soapy soap

Many of you may already do this or have heard of making your own laundry detergent. Today is the first time I'm trying my hand at it. Here are all the ingredients (cat optional in the second picture).

We opted to try the liquid detergent version because we will be adding some essential oils that smell nice to us but repel ticks, fleas, etc. which are a pretty big nuisance around these parts.

In the third picture I've gotten everything melted and mixed together as am adding the last of the hot water. It will sit covered overnight and gel up, and tomorrow we'll pour it into a large holding container and a few old cleaned out detergent containers.
